Feel The Beat
-

Bits and Pieces
Life is never fair, it's just fairer than death. That is all.

Will you do her same if she were to give all her heart to you?

She.. hearts her family
hearts her friends
hearts the food
hearts the melodies
hearts the screens
hearts her books
hearts new adventures
hearts precious memories
hearts the ocean
hearts stars that light up the night
hearts the sun which gives warmth
hearts the world
And lastly, she hearts you.

Take me on a journey and promise me I'd never be alone..

Due to unforseen circumstances, I have once again changed my blog site..

THANK YOU!

Friday, March 28, 2008

Companionably choking on her her guilt, she fingered her useless mobile. Gnawing on her bottom lip as grief compresses her chest and everything adds on to make her breathing impossible. Fear of losing once again squeezes her susceptible heart.

This deep unutterable woe.

*sigh*

Firstly to all my zealous readers out there, sorry for the nada updates. I know, I know, it has been nothing but a dead blog I have here since I left and you guys were waiting and waiting for my updates. I am sordid sorry guys! I truly am! But hey, hear me out all right? I have got solid reasons.. I have been bogged down by college life at this place called Concord College a.k.a. the prison, you see? Please do understand all right?

Speaking of which, I shall really team up with a few of you (you know who you are) and just elude! Just the you and I? And we can call it our 'Prison Break'!

Haha! Did that just prove that I am still the same old lame me?  Not a thing about me changed I guess if you would kindly exclude the fact that the weighing machine I stood on earlier has it scale flunctuate upwards! Yikes!

Anyway, let's just pick things up from where I left them with you guys, shall we?

The Bombshell!

My 18th Birthday party at my place. Didn't think I would forget, did you? That is definitely one entry I will never miss to post in my blog. Thank you guys, once again, for giving me yet another flabergastin surprise party! You guys R-O-C-K my world!

Thank you, Foong Kai for the 101 roses!

After those water splashing and waiting for me to get changed, we went to Mid Valley and dined together. Robin Then and Ying Si stayed a little longer than the rest and we caught a midnight movie together. A great way to end yet another great day. I hope all of you enjoyed it as much as I did. *mwakz*

Here's the three of us: Melisa Lee, myself and Ying Si for you!

Let us skip a very few long days and go on to the very day I left for England. I never expected ALL of you to go see me off at KLIA. It's a long way from where you guys live, no? I was indeed moved by all of you and really, what more can I say guys? I am so damned proud that I have such a great bunch of buddies like you guys.

There is nothing more that I could ask for during my high school years back in SRI KL. You guys are the greatest thing that has ever happened to me back in those years. I adore all of you till my last breath.

Until then, take care all.

IMG_6623

And there she goes.

Gosh, after 3 months I am still inclined to weep and become teary when I reminisces the day I left you guys for England. It was indeed heartbreaking to know that I would miss all the fun and wonderful moments we could have shared in college.  You know I will miss you all..

All right, buckle up Sam.

Moving on..

Ever feel as if you were surrounded with a coterie of people emanating scary brainy power day in and day out? No? Well, WELCOME to Concord College!

For all Malaysian friends, here are some pictures of my college. My camera went haywire when I was there so I hardly took any pictures with it but I stole most of them from friend's camera. So, bear with me.

Ready?

Here goes..

Guys, believe it or not, they have a coffin placed inside this very library. And thanks to Euan and Daryl who kindly shared their stories about Concord - which I have absolutely no interest whatsoever in reminding myself let alone typing it all out here in my blog - with me that night, I wonder how do we Concorders revise in peace. Beats me.

Although I didn't recieve any 'ang pao' when I was in UK besides the one mailed over by beloved(s) Melisa Lee, Kelvin Teoh and Teh Tian Ji and the one Yit Lin's parents gave, I had fun during Chinese New Year.

We went to Manchester and we had this 21 pound dinner at some Chinese restaurant and believe you me that it felt like heaven when I had the Chinese food there. You guys have no idea how much I miss Malaysian food! esp. Chinese!

Here are some photos taken when we had our reunion dinner that night with some other Concorders:

This is for you, Games:

31st Dec 2007

I went out with Yi Feng and Kristin in the morning at Mid Valley, had lunch and we chummed with one another like we never did  before for the rest of the day. On the very same day, we met Xiao Ting - one of my old primary buddies -and surprisingly enough, she remembers my birthday! Thank you, darling and I can't agree more that we are indeed fated to meet again right before I was about to leave Malaysia.

31st Dec

Xiao Ting and I.

*hint hint*

Chong Yi Feng and Kristin Choo, don't you guys owe me something? 'Negaraku' in at the entrance! Go, go, go!

I had a splendid time spent with you guys. Thanks for everything and do know I love you guys - forever. But, we didn't had a picture taken together. I thought I reminded you guys?

31 dec 07 (18)

Oh well..

After Kristin went home, Yi Feng and I got to spend some time together before she too left. Then, I met up with Ter Chen Yi and had our dinner before he crashed over my place. Thanks for the present. It is beautiful but I seriously doubt if I should be its rightful owner.  I am only kidding, boney nanny. I love it.

Kam Sa Ami Da for being there to watch the fireworks with me.

Although we missed counting down and I was sick to the extreme but it was by far the best new year's eve I ever had. It was definitely much better than spending the counting down to new year and my birthday alone (parents were out too).

Every year muddling along, I'd look outside my balcony to see tiny sparkles of fireworks when all these time I could have had first-class privileges just right outside my bedroom's window.  It only added to my already very long list, this irony.

31 dec 07 (13)

My last day being 17.

1st Jan 2008

Woke up at 8a.m. when I slept at what, 5a.m.? I would say I hardly slept for the last two hours as I kept waking up in between. Perhaps I was not used to having a guest sleeping right outside my room, in the living room. I am sure it would be pretty awkward for you too, agree?

In the morning, my dad brought my brother, Chen Yi and I to Mid Valley to have our breakfast at Coffee Bean and Chen Yi bid his goodbye after breakfast was done to meet up with the love of his life - games. Meanwhile, when I was waiting for Jonathan Fu and Akhil, we went loitering around Gardens before they we settled for lunch.

IMG_1448

Lovely.

IMG_1443

Today, I am 18.

Finally when both of them arrived, we went to get our tickets for Atonement and boy, wasn't it a great movie?

We went to Chili's Grill to grab a bite before our movie. And can you keep a secret? *whisper* In fact, my sister, Jonathan do not know the difference between oyster and lobster!

IMG_1454

Jon.

IMG_1455

Akhil.

IMG_1458

And I was wondering, why did the bill took them so long. Thanks Jon.

IMG_1459

Akhil and I.

Thanks for everything and no worries, I will definitely hunt you down if I ever need your advise. You've been wonderful and the 3 of us should hang out again some time.

 IMG_1460

Mmm~

IMG_1461

Yeah!

IMG_1462

And I said "Aaahh".

After the movie, I met up with Aunty Bee Lian and yes, she gave me something to bring over to England too! You gotta admit, she is one wonderful lady, isn't she?

IMG_1464

Went back home right after that in order to beat the jam and off my faimly and I went to have dinner at Kuala Lumpur.

A low chocolate forbearance!

Sam: If not mistaken, I ordered hot chocolate and why is it white?   (I was thinking of white chocolate)

Saleslady: You have to melt the chocolate yourself.

Sam: Oh.

Been feeding my face with chocolate nowadays. Last night my family and I went up to Genting Highlands to meet up with my dad's relatives from Singapore. Have you ever drank hot chocolate which you have to melt your own chocolate into a hot cup of foamy milk? Well, I did when I was there.

The other day when I was waiting for someone who nonchalantly made me wait for 3 hours, I sat at Coffee Bean  and Tea Leaf while I had a cup of Belgian Chocolate and an hour later another Mocha. When that someone whose name not worth mentioning finally reached, Jonathan Fu, Akhil, Ying Si and I went back to Coffee Bean again and I bought myself another hot chocolate although I didn't finish it as I thought my stomach would soon give way. And later that day during dinner at Kenny Rogers, I ordered chocolate muffin again.

Jeez, sooner or later I'd really turn into a fat choco bar.

I wanted to have another deal of food after my quarter meal at Kenny Rogers (while Ying Si and Vernecia had only salad as I was quite famished) but time wouldn't permit as Akhil has to get home early. Oh well Jon, next time then! Missing you.

We caught a movie while we were there too.

The Ferryman - indeed gory. Not advisable for weak hearts.

And yes Yu Jing, I know I said I wanted to learn how to eat salad but do know I despise salad especially with Mayonnaise dressing. Don't ask me why.

On the very same day, I was back at my maternal grandmother's place and we had a farewell lunch before I head up to Genting Highlands. I didn't bring camera so no photos. Sorry.

We had a gathering together with my mother, eldest aunt who is also my beloved godmother, my many notorious yet very lovely cousins, youngest uncle, my grandmother who took care of me when I was a child and my grandfather. In the end, everyone cried.

Shouldn't marriage be a lifelong commitment?

In the movies, we can clearly see how marriage has turned into broken ones. No doubt, in the end all the couples be it old or young they tend to get back together in the end but movies are movies, right? How much of these can actually be seen in reality?

It is an aspect of evolution that man has come to his present lifestyle and featuring at the top of it, the fact that he mates for life. Man has roamed the earth for 5 million years. Taking this into consideration, we see that man has come to this marriage arrangement only fairly recently - as a result of evolution, or so they say.

Marriage, an institution where responsibility is the main factor. When entering to it, couples agree to give up many aspects to their lives - including a great deal of freedom - to set up families. Once they have a child, doesn't it become imperative that partners remain married?

A third party who did not ask to be born is now in the picture.

The couple who bring children into the world must realise that they do so because they want to or else why start the institution in the first place, right? Time and again, it has been proven that children of divorced couples undergo traumas which leave them hurt for life. It seems insensible that children who had no choice but to be born, are brought into the world and then made to go through the pain their parents seperating.

__LOVE___by_chochweets

Love us.

Again, the children have no say in the matter. Since so much hurt to the innocent parties involved, couples should duty bound to stay in their marriages or at least after a great deal of effort!

Putting aside all idealistic and religious or even moral considerations, I believe couples should grow old together and take care of each other as stated in their marraige vows, 'Till death do us part.' The understanding of each other that long married couples have would develop into a firm bond which would ideally be lifelong.

It is strange that after so many centuries of evolution and having found that marriage and staying with a single partner for life is the best arrangement, there are now more divorces worldwide. What is responsible for this trend is never clear to me. What is clear, however, is that the world is so much worse for it. It sure seems to be a step in 'devolution' instead, if you ask me.

Divorce seems to be so easily obtained nowadays and in some cases, the 'reasons' are more like excuses. Surely, couples can overcome them like they overcome so many other things together as soulmates. It takes two to make or break a marriage and if both partners value it, it will last for life - as it should.

I of all people should know this better than anyone and it pains me to somewhat see history repeating itself. I guess it helps see through the eyes of others - eyes of many children who has a broken home.

Nonetheless, I am being grateful. Grateful for the home I have now because knowing at this moment, all I have is all I need.

Alien Vs. Predator 2!

aliens_vs_predator_requiem

I watched it with Yu Jing today at One Utama. Although we practically raided the entire mall I still have yet to get my stuffs for England and it hits me hard that I am turning 18 soon! Oh my, I am old.

Again, I bumbed into Kelvin Teoh.

Is that guy stalking me? Why do I always see him when I am out with someone else some place else? Jeez cauliflower, next time catch me in a more apropriate time when I am not eating otherwise my appetite would end up in the trash bin. Haha only kidding.  Peace out.

Shall we peek into the future?

Nokia definitely has the most interesting concept phones. Nokia 888 Communicator is a striking futuristic concept phone. The phone, which uses liquid batteries, speech recognition, flexible touchscreen and touch-sensitive body cover,is designed by Tamer Nakisci and won the Nokia Design Award.

N888 Communicator.

n3

Would you like a N888 Communicator on your wrist?

 n2

 n1

Just look at its flexibility.

Nokia Aeon

was presented by Nokia on their Website in the Research & Development section. What is so great about this phone is that it looks like it will actually go into production next February. Of course, its just a rumor, but still, makes us hope to actually see it someday in the GSM shop. All we know about it for now is that its a touchscreen phone and it looks fantastic.

n6

Black Nokia Aeon.

n5

Or would you prefer the green Nokia Aeon?

n7

The blue seems fine too, don't you think?

What You See is What You Get Concept.

One thing is for sure about this concept phone, they could've named it shorter. Designed by Pei-Hua Hang, the phone's name comes from the fact that this concept no l ong er uses an LCD as viewfinder for the digital camera, instead it uses a transparent frame. And of course, interaction is made through a touchscreen.

w1

It's the transparent frame that caught my eye.

*drool*

You are right. I am craving for a new phone. If only I could have my claws on any of them, slim and sleak. *MuaHaHa*  (smacks myself awake) - ouch!

And here are some random pictures which I offhandedly grabbed from Melisa's and Sook Ling's blog. Here they are:
